Before you sign a lease, hire help, or announce a tuition price, you need to understand the numbers behind your model — questions like:
You do not need to have every number perfect. You just need a starting point that helps you make better decisions.
The Learning Pods Financial Calculator helps you map your monthly assumptions and see how different choices affect your program. Use it to estimate:
The goal is not to predict the future perfectly. The goal is to stop guessing.
Enter your starting numbers, including expected enrollment, target profit margin, founder salary, staff pay, payroll tax assumptions, substitute coverage, and rent.
Map out your fixed monthly costs, staffing costs, and per-student variable costs. This includes things like space, utilities, insurance, software, admin support, cleaning, curriculum, marketing, internet, professional services, supplies, snacks, field trips, and more.
See your total fixed cost, total variable cost, total operating cost, variable cost per student, break-even cost per student, recommended tuition, and break-even students.
Test what happens when enrollment changes. Compare conservative, target, and growth scenarios so you can see how student count affects revenue, expenses, and profit.
Test different rent or space costs and see how they affect operating cost, tuition needed, and break-even enrollment.
Explore how different staffing and salary choices affect your monthly costs and tuition needs.
Track actual monthly results over time so you can compare revenue, costs, and profit as your program grows.
This is especially helpful if you are still saying: “I have the idea, but I do not know what to charge.”
A practical way to estimate and test your numbers — not a replacement for accounting, tax, legal, or financial advice. Use it as a starting point for more informed decisions.
You do not need perfect numbers to begin. Start with your best estimates for:
Then use the scenario tabs to test what changes when your enrollment, rent, or staffing changes.
The calculator is meant to help you see the financial pressure points before they surprise you.
Start mapping your costs, tuition, break-even point, and enrollment scenarios before you launch.

Learning Pods is a community platform for families, educators, and founders building or finding alternative education — learning pods, microschools, homeschool support programs, tutoring, and enrichment. You can browse for free, and most tools are free to start.
Use the Pod Map (in your sidebar under Network, or at /pod-map/) — it shows programs plotted near you, with filters for age, schedule, format, and budget.
Pick whichever describes most of what you're doing right now: Parent if you're looking for a program for your child, Facilitator/Educator if you teach or tutor, Founder if you run or want to start a program, Vendor if you offer products or services to programs. You can hold more than one role on the same account.
Yes. If your account has more than one role, a role switcher appears in your top navigation ("Switch role as...") — it changes your dashboard and profile fields without creating a second account.
Go to Profile from your account menu (top-right avatar). You can update your photo, bio, and role-specific details there.
Profile → Privacy tab has toggles for directory visibility, connection requests, online status, and notification preferences.
Use "Forgot password" on the sign-in page — we'll email you a reset link.
A free profile lets you create a listing and appear on the map. Network Membership adds enhanced visibility, weekly office hours, and member resources for a monthly fee — see /network-membership/ for the full comparison.
LearningPods OS is the bigger step up — it includes everything Network Membership does, plus the full backend system for inquiries, enrollment, payment tracking, parent communication, and documents. See /learningpods-os/.
Access usually updates automatically within a few minutes of payment. If it's been longer than that, contact us from the button below with the email you used to pay and we'll sort it out right away.
No — founding and pre-sale prices are early-access pricing and increase later (each product page shows the exact date). Locking in now keeps that lower price for as long as you stay subscribed.
Open their profile or find them in Members, and use the Message button — or go to Messages in your top navigation to see all your conversations.
Go to /regional-groups/create.php (or "Build Your Own Program" in the Resource Library) — a short wizard walks you through details, photos, and location. Your program then appears on the Pod Map and is written to help it get found in search.
Community (in your sidebar under Network) opens straight into the feed — post, ask a question, or filter by topic chips relevant to your role.
Use the Contact button below, or go to /contact/ any time — a real person reads every message.
The Resource Library (/resources/) has free guides, checklists, and worksheets for every role, plus paid courses and programs when you're ready to go deeper.
